Rural Forums (LCIH)

April, 2016  Since September 2015 we have seen an increase in tragic, senseless violent acts in rural Eastern Ontario that have resulted in the murders of women, communities paralyzed by grief and advocates outraged.  And as a result, the need to create a meaningful opportunity to work together toward healing, action and change.

A plan was created and a small working group embarked on” the rural forums” to have those conversations across the three counties that had been most recently impacted by horrific violence.  These forums were supported and attended by the Ministry of Community and Social Services. This support commenced immediately.  From the first email correspondence, the Ministry was on side and the support remains consistent.  The demonstrated leadership of this region has been noticed and has impacted the notion of capacity building already. The forums offered a unique model and approach to engage and participate in authentic dialogue toward a united change movement for rural Eastern Ontario.

The documents below are the record of the Rural Forums,  the actions suggested, adopted, and work completed.  This page is intended to be the filing cabinet for these documents so all have access.
